www.fashionweekbelfast.com

This season, the bi-annual, multi-award winning fashion event which is Belfast FASHION WEEK 2010 has teamed up with Diet Coke to give fashion design students, young designers and anyone with a flair for fashion the chance to design a commercial, wearable and fashion forward garment which will end up on the catwalk.

Entrants are required to design a womenswear look for the Autumn/Winter season that encapsulates the spirit of the Diet Coke ‘Love it Light’ attitude. The lucky designer will also walk away with a mini scholarship to a fashion course at London College of Fashion, including flights and hotel accommodation to further nurture their passion for fashion.

If you are not a budding designer not to worry Diet Coke will be pulling up at Castlecourt on 16thOctober for Belfast FASHION WEEK 2010 in a fab 1960’s airstream Silver Palace as part of Diet Coke’s Love it Light Roadshow! Boutique of the Week- Austique

www.austique.co.uk

Austique.co.uk is the destination for online fashion connoisseurs looking to find unique designer fashion labels from around the world. Since opening our store on London's Kings Road, in 2004, we have established an impressive reputation for our exclusive fashion, unique accessories and covetable gifts.

Sisters, Lindy Lopes and Katie Canvin opened their pioneering boutique in May 2004.

We both really wanted to set-up our own business and realised the potential in importing niche fashion brands to the UK. The boutique was a relatively unknown concept within the UK and the idea of a one-stop shop with a welcoming atmosphere and a personal and honest service is every girl's heaven. It was certainly mine." (Lindy Lopes).

The philosophy behind Austique remains the same; to bring new and niche fashion brands from around the world to you at home. We hope you love them as much as we do!

Weekly roundup of all the news and views in the British fashion and beauty blogs!!!

Lipstick Red Tote www.thebagladytv.net
If you love the shiny patent red look embodied by Lulu Guinness and the like, you might be interested in this highly affordable top-handler at M&S. Designed as an overnight or weekender bag, it would perform this function admirably, but I think it ticks the right boxes for the everyday workwear look, too.

Fashions Night Out www.glamourmagazine.com

The Makeup Secrets www.fashionfoiegras.com
This weekend, as I scrolled through the pics from the Venice Film Festival, I came across the stunning Rosamund Pike wearing an amazing Gucci dress and remembered that my bestie, Miss Emma Day, had traveled across the continent to assist Rosamund with her glowing look. For those of you not familiar with Emma Day, she is one of the UK's leading makeup artists and is flown around the world to look after some of the biggest stars on planet earth. Yes, I do feel honoured to call her my friend. These friendships do have their benefits...like being able to share the secrets of the looks with all of you, my lovely readers!

Isabella Blow www.mariankihogo.com
Isabella Blow was incomparable. She is notable for discovering the likes of Hussein Chalayan, Alexander McQueen and Sophie Dahl. She was also widely known for inspiring and nurturing talent, world over.‘Isabella Blow‘ by Martina Rink (she was Isabella’s assistant until her suicide in 2007 and is now the director of Fashion Spotlight, Berlin), sees the writer compile personal accounts with Blow, iconic portraits of Isabella by photographers such as Rankin, Testino with contributed letters from Manolo Blahnik, Anna Wintour, Tracey Emin etc in a vivid celebration of her unforgettable but tragic life.

Alexander Wang Dreams www.theclotheswhisperer.co.uk

For those of you who know me personally, you know that, much like Carrie Bradshaw, I consider my hometown to be much much more than just a city, it's a part of me, my sibling, my best friend--who, thanks to my work, I see when fashion week comes round but twice a year. Hence the gap from a trip home in February to September seems an insurmountable age and I can sincerely say I am aquiver with anticipation: plans to dance around in Times Square and NOT have my personal space violated (boo to you, Oxford Circus), feel the whoosh of the subway as it rushes down the platform EVERY FEW MINUTES (oh the luxury!), the food, the stores...and of course my friends and family

Zara Online Leopard Print Bag www.thebaglady.tv

Our sister site Catwalk Queen discussed the brand new online Zara store yesterday. We've been having a good browse of the bag section (natch) and spotted this seriously cute, very designer-esque animal print handbag. We love the contrast between the crazy print and the smooth, apricot panelling.

Designer childrenswear boutique to launch in Gerrards Cross

Catwalk preview announced to showcase autumn/winter collections

A fashion-forward mother-of-two is bringing her passion for children and clothes to Gerrards Cross high street by opening a designer children’s-wear boutique in the town.BOYMEETSGIRL will open on September 18th and will stock a range of beautiful clothes for children aged from two to 16.Clare King is drawing on experience passed down from her mother, who also ran a children’s clothes shop, and responding to research from women in the region to bring BOYMEETSGIRL to the area.“I carried out a lot of research in the area, speaking to other mothers and they all wanted more choice locally to buy quality, beautiful clothes for their children. Opening a children’s clothes shop is something I’ve wanted to do for years. Now that my boys are older I’m able to devote the time to such a project,” she said.BOYMEETSGIRL will have a prime location, on Packhorse Road. Clare has travelled throughout Europe meeting with fashion houses including Dolce & Gabanna, Juicy Couture, Monnalisa, and Scotch & Soda to select pieces.“The buying has been enormous fun, and for the first time I’ve appreciated the story behind each piece and the time and effort that goes into its creation,” she said.“The passion of the designers really comes across and I am looking forward to conveying their enthusiasm and thinking to my customers,”she added.Clare will also be working with parents to help their children appreciate quality over quantity.“I think there’s always that battle, where a parent wants to invest in an excellent quality classic item, a coat or a jacket, while their teenage daughter would rather buy 12 separates from the high street!I’ll be trying to play devil’s advocate somewhat, showing how designer and high street can blend together and how accessories and classic items can really make a wardrobe work,” she added. The BOYMEETSGIRL autumn/winter range will be showcased at a VIP preview catwalk event at The Bull Hotel on Saturday September 11th,which will also offer guests the opportunity to buy straight from the catwalk.
